Boy or Girl Standard Poodle

One of the most asked questions I get is "Which is best, boy or girl Standard Poodle?" If you do not already have a preference, then my advice is, it does not matter if you are looking for a companion and a pet. Most people owned by a Standard Poodle will have their SP fixed between 18 months and 2 years of age.  By having your SP fixed can help deal with a lot of the hormones for both sexes. I have heard it said that male SPs are more fun and loving, but they hump and female SPs are more aloof and guarded. I have been owned by SPs for 20 + years and had seen this to be true and I have seen it be reversed. Yes girls will hump too, as it is a sign of dominance.  I therefore believe SP are like people, it depends on the personality of the SP you are talking about. When you are trying to decide which SP to be owned by, consider personality 1st. Let your breeder know what you are looking for in a SP and your breeder can match you with the best puppy for you and your family.

Hope you find your perfect SP soon.
